Julia Child was born on August 15, 1912 in Pasadena, California. She was the oldest child out of the three ( Julia, John, Dort). All of them were really tall. Julia was know to be a very good prankster when she was young. She built tree houses, rode her bike everywhere, threw mud pies at cars, and even more things. Julia's family was very rich. Each person in the family had there own cook to make their food ( There were five people in her family). They mostly served meat and potatoes. When it was cook's night off, Julia's mom would only make three dishes.
Since Julia was very tall it made dancing awkward, for the 1920s anyway. But, for basketball she was team captain. Her favorite snack after school was a jelly doughnut. After college she moved to New York to look for a job. Julia tried to work for a magazine, but she failed the typing test. After that she worked at a furniture store, even though Julia liked to write she kind of thought the job was boring. A couple of years she moved back to California. In a few years her mom died. When WWII broke out women were asked to join the armed forces. Julia's main job was to organize classified papers. Julia got married in 1946 to Paul Child. Paul's job offered him to work in Paris. Julia and Paul were thrilled. They packed all of their things in 14 suitcases. They found an apartment, and they called it Roo de Loo. Julia finds some friends and they are trying to make a French cookbook that is in English. After 10 years the book comes out in 1961. The title of the book is Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Julia had a T.V show to teach people how to cook something. She had people that held up cads so if she was doing something wrong they could tell her without speaking. After each show she would say Bon Appetit. Julia Child died on August 13, 2004 just two days away from her birthday.People who love to eat are always the best people. - Julia Child |
