"Musicians don't retire; they stop when there is no more music in them" -Louis Armstrong Intro Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong was very passionate about his music,and that is proved in the quote above.The quote means that he will never give give up music till he dies.That shows passion, devotion, and perseverance. Early Life Louis Armstrong was born on August 4,1901 in a poor town called Black Story-Ville, New Orleans, Louisiana.In that town there was a lot of crime.He was left with his Grandmother Josephine until he was five years old because that his mother worked multiple jobs.When he was five, he went back to his mother,Mary Albert,and his sister,Beatrice.One day, coming back from his coal business,he found his stepfather's gun on New Years Eve.So to celebrate,he shot the gun,but got caught by the police. Because of that,he headed to a school called Fisk School for Boys.That is when he started to play cornet.He went to school till the age of eleven to earn money for his family. First Start Louis Armstrong's idol,Joe Oliver,was heading to Chicago to play,and Louis Armstrong wanted to come along with him to play. So he did,and he played like he never did before,however,he played trumpet in that concert,not cornet. When he came back, he started gaining more popularity. Later On Louis Armstrong later on became a renowned musician Career Achievements Louis Armstrong later on won three Grammy Awards and a Grammy Hall of Fame Awards. He also won the Independent Music Award for Best Album.He went on a tour to England and many other parts of the world,including Egypt! As well as the first African American to appear in Hollywood movie.The movie is called "Pennies From Heaven" The End Unfortunately, his life came to an end on July 6,1971 when he died in his sleep in New York.This man was a very legendary figure,coming from the bottom to the top of the jazz class. My Memorial My memorial for Louis Armstrong would be Louis's statue playing the trumpet because that he showed heavy passion playing the trumpet.I would locate it in New Orleans because that is where his music career started. My tribute in the real world would also include Louis playing the trumpet and when you press a button it will play one of the hit songs on the left side of the page.
